FIDM.....Nick Verreos and David Paul Named Co-Chairs of FIDM Fashion Department!

Co-Chairs--Nick Verreos and David Paul, NIKOLAKI designers and Co-Chairs of the FIDM Fashion Design Department I am extremely EXCITED to announce that my NIKOLAKI  and NV Nick Verreos design and life partner David Paul and I have been named Co-Chairs of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising's Fashion Design Department. As a FIDM Grad--from many, many years ago, instructor and spokesperson--I am honored for this new stage in my professional life. Along with David and his extensive knowledge of fashion, costume design and styling, as well as being my better half for the past almost-30 years, we hope to continue the top-notch legacy of the FIDM Fashion Department and inspire a creative as well as well-rounded environment for both students and faculty. The beauty of this co-chair title is that it allows David and I to continue our design business and personally, carry on with my red carpet appearances, fashion consultancy as well as FIDM Spokesperson and FIDM Museum

Le Smoking 2018--Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2018 WHAT: Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2018 . INSPIRATION: Gender-blending style and Le Smoking --Tuxedo-style in many variations. Haute Milliner Stephen Jones was also an inspiration, who designed Fez hats for the show. Clockwise from the top--Mink Sweatshirt, Asymmetrical Le Smoking, Tent Fez & Gender Mix---Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2018 SEEN ON THE RUNWAY: It has a been a long time since Jean Paul Gaultier has shown menswear styles on his Haute Couture shows. He began the show with several menswear styles. Lots of looks riffing on one of his Gaultier-isms, "Le smoking" suit--a tuxedo-inspired tailleur originally done by THE MASTER-- Yves Saint Laurent . Raw Couture--Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection Fall 2018 WHAT: Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection Fall/Winter 2018 by Creative Director John Galliano. INSPIRATION: Galliano explained in his podcast (you can listen to it HERE ) that the collection was the "raw, raw, undiluted essence" of the house. Regal Style--Armani Prive Fall/Winter 2018 WHAT: Armani Prive Fall/Winter 2018 . Giorgio Armani showed his Haute Couture show at elegant Italian Embassy in Paris. WWD said that collection was possibly "his best ever". INSPIRATION:  83-year-old Armani said, in the press notes, of the collection: "Sculptural, almost regal style". Indeed it was.  Draped Flourishes--Armani Prive Fall/Winter 2018 Couture Details: Crocodile & Sequined Fringe--Armani Prive Fall/Winter 2018 SEEN ON THE RUNWAY: The collection had 96 looks, beginning with elegant streamlined "day" (Day, if you are the Queen of Belgium making appearances in the daytime!) looks, showcasing his atelier's deft hands in sensuous second-skin tailleurs , then, a group of  STUNNING silk velvet column gowns with sequined crystal details...a flurry of pink and several glorious draped pieces, all added up to the stunning collection.
